Gas prices are bound to increase , I think will never come below $4. Only solar power is the guaranteed clean, affordable ,low prices alternative option.Only problem is it is not available at all time, Can we build a system that can be placed above the clouds and supply us the solar energy on the ground continuously? Any thoughts?

"Only solar power is the guaranteed clean, affordable ,low prices alternative option."

Clean? How are they manufactured?
Affordable? Why don’t we all have them?
Placed above the clouds? Hmmmm…..would this increase the cost? Does it get dark above the clouds at night?

Keep thinking!

Check your facts, Mr. 357. Listen to "Dark Side of the Moon" by Pink Floyd. Especially the very end.

I already have a solar power system installed at home. I have panels that make up 1.52 Kw and a 2 Kw inverter. I want to upgrade the system, and wondered if this is easy enough to do myself as the wiring and grid connection is already established? I am thinking of upgrading the inverter to a 3 + Kw one. Is this possible or is there additional installation required?

I see no reason as to why you cannot use the 3Kw inverter using the same connections as you have on the 2Kw. The wiring has to be sufficient to take the increased current but you are still dealing with fairly low amps and I think it will be fine. Go ahead and try it.

Sun angle and cloud cover are key to solar power. The Persian Gulf is close to the equator so sun angle will be good. It’s a dry area so cloud cover should be low which is good. You also have a low infestation level of environmentalist so there should be little objection to developing solar power.

You may want to look at several sources for grants:

1) State energy conservation office. May have some stimulus money
2) Utilities in your area
3) U.S. Department of Energy
4) U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
5) U.S. Dept. of Agriculture
6) U.S. Dept of Education
7) Public utility commission in your state. They may have some stimulus money.
Local government entities
9) The private sector – Large corporations like GE, Ford, GM, Siemens, Philips, etc.
10) State education agency

I’m doing a school project and really need some help on this topic.

How does solar power help the environment?

What do solar panels do for your house?

What type of tradesman installs solar panels?

Most electricity today is created by burning coal or natural gas. This burning causes global warming and pollution. And huge complexes of wires criss cross our country.

If every home had solar power, we’d need fewer electrical generation plants. Thus less pollution and fewer wires carrying the power. Imagine a solar power panel on every house’s roof. Each home might be able to generate electricity and hot water for their own needs. This avoids pollution, global warming, carbon dioxide emissions, etc.

Solar panels would probably involve plumbers, carpenters and electricians. Are these the kind of panels that have water in them? If so, plumbers would be needed…

I would like to set up a solar power array in my apartment, but I’d like to just bypass a storage battery. If I set up a solar power array and hook it up to an inverter that will then tie into a power socket into the grid itself, do I need a battery? I just want to save money on my electricity bill and not have a standby in case of a power failure.

Grid-tied solar system are the most common type in the USA these days. They do not require batteries. However, the inverter has to connect to the grid through the breaker panel, which may not be accessible from your apartment. You would need to coordinate with your landlord, which might be tricky at best. If they will allow it, you can look at some grid-tied systems here, http://www.altestore.com/store/Kits-Package-Deals/Grid-Tied-Systems/c569/

The best way to save money on electricity is to use less. I know, pretty obvious, but it is cheaper to save electricity than to make it. Change out all of you light bulbs from incandescent to CFL, look for phantom loads that stay on when you turn the device off, like TVs, stereos, PCs, and connect them to a power strip that you can turn completely off at night.
