Which types of renewable energy are being utilized in the US and which are in the "design" phase?

One type of renewable energy for cars is the hydrogen fuel cell. Hydrogen is all around us making it easy to get, plus as an added bonus it doesn’t emit any CO2 emissions. The only thing that comes out of the exhaust is water. Honda has released a hydrogen fuel cell car for lease. It’s called the Honda FCX Clarity. There are four problems that need to be overcome with this source of energy. One is to make hydrogen fuel pumps easily available. Two is to make the car travel more than two hundred miles before refueling. Third is to make the Hydrogen more safe to transport. Hydrogen is more combustional than gasoline. And forth is to make the hydrogen cost a less.

There are two main categories of solar systems, solar cells and solar water heather; Solar photovoltaics also know as “PVs” are cells that convert solar radiation (sunlight) into electricity. Solar water heaters are systems that have water storage tanks and solar collectors used to heat the water. The two main categories of solar water heating systems are active systems that use circulating pumps and control units, and passive solar water heaters that do not use pumps.

What is the career called that deals with renewable energy, and teaches students how to design things like, solar panels and wind powered generators. What universities of colleges offer the course? Also can someone provide a link to the college or university page that deals with their renewable energy course.
Does anyone know about the course in Uvic? They have someone guy in their commercial holding a wind powered generator model.

Yahoo Finance or MSN Money are good and free tools you can use. Just search for ‘renewable energy’ or ‘green’ companies. Good example of one start up that is getting lots of attention is Beacon Corp (BCON).

I’m really worried about the economy and looking for a quick certification so I can have some sort of qualification in case it totally goes under. I found a 14 credit hour renewable energy certification at a community college. Do you think this will do any good for finding jobs?

The courses that are required are chemistry fundamentals, basic electricity, applied alternative and renewable energy, and technical math 2. It’s a 14 credit program.
